Augusta Man Sends Nude Photos to Underage Cousin!

An Augusta man has been arrested on allegations that he sent nude photos of himself to a 14-year-old male cousin.

Eugene Murray, 27 (pictured), was charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes.

The boy’s mother contacted the sheriff’s office last Thursday after viewing disturbing messages, photos and videos on her son’s cell phone, according to a sheriff’s report.

The mother was so disturbed by the images, she couldn’t even describe them to an officer and had to hand him the phone to see for himself. According to a sheriffs report, here is what the officer saw:

  • Conversations between Murray and the boy about sex acts they would like to perform on each other.
  • Full nude pictures of Murray.
  • Discussions about meeting.
  • “Towards the end of the text messages there was a video call after which Murray asked (the boy) if he finished and he stated yes but it’s better in person,” a report says.

Murray was arrested the same day and remained in the jail on Wednesday under a $11,200 bond.

A Hephzibah Man was Murdered. She Burned His Clothes to Cover It Up, Cops Say.

A Hephzibah Man was Murdered. She Burned His Clothes to Cover It Up, Cops Say.

Bizarre new details in the Hephzibah murder of Chad Garner who was found dumped in a local shed:

  • Emily Stephens, 17, of Augusta (shown above and at right), was charged Tuesday for tampering with evidence after allegedly burning the Garner’s clothes. A warrant says she burned the victim’s clothes at 1153 Piney Grove Road after knowing the victim was dead. She “did knowingly destroy evidence with the intent of obstructing the apprehension” of murder suspect William Krepps. Her relationship with Krepps is unclear.
  • Tybee Island Police Investigator B. Whitley confirmed Wednesday that his agency recovered a vehicle there that was driven by Garner’s missing friend, Preston Overton. Authorities say the men who killed Garner – William Krepps and Vaughn Verdi – took a vacation over the weekend to Tybee Island after the murder. Sources tell us the suspects may have used Overton’s car to get to Tybee Island. The vehicle was a 2014 Dodge Journey.
  • Overton remains missing. He was last seen Friday, and authorities released a missing poster on Tuesday that says he was last seen with Garner. People with knowledge of his disappearance are asked to call Investigator Lucas Grant at 706-821-1020 or 821-1080.

Previous story. A pair of Richmond County friends were charged Monday in the death of a Hephzibah man whose body was found dumped in a shed with five gunshots.

Vaughn Austin Verdi, 23, of Augusta, and William Krepps, 23, of Hephzibah, were both charged with murder and weapon possession in the death of 27-year-old Chad V. Garner, also known as Damien King or D.K.

Garner’s body was discovered Sunday morning inside a shed at 4401 Peach Orchard Road after someone called authorities. (Garner is pictured here with his wife.)

Authorities say the pair shot Garner five times, including twice in the back of the head and once each in the chest, back and tricep. They used a Black High Point 9 mm, which was later found wrapped in a towel inside a garage of Krepps’ family residence.

Both suspects are felons and weren’t even supposed to have a gun. That earned them both an additional charge of weapon possession by a convicted felon.

Verdi has a felony conviction for entering an automobile with the intent to commit theft. Krepps was convicted a few months ago of kidnapping.

Krepps Violent History. Krepps was released from jail in February after two years awaiting trial for a 2014 rape and kidnapping case. He pleaded guilty to the kidnapping charge and prosecutors dropped the rape charge. Judge Sheryl B. Jolly released him with time served and probation.

Krepps (shown here in a Facebook photo) was wearing a mask in 2014 when he secured a woman’s hands with duct tape inside a local house and then choked her into unconsciousness when she woke up.

It was part of a bizarre scheme by 43-year-old Ricky Lee Darby to win the victim’s affections by “saving” the woman. He told police that his friend Krepps took it too far.

According to the victim, she was drugged while having dinner with Darby and woke up in a house with the masked man over her. After being choked, she awoke a second time in bed with Darby, a disabled man who told her she could have sex with him or with the other strangers in the house.

Last year, Darby pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and got a 10-year prison sentence.

Verdi’s History. In November 2014, Verdi was one of two men arrested for entering autos at the Select Auto Sales on Tobacco Road in Augusta at 2 in the morning.

Verdi (shown here in a Facebook photo) was charged with five counts each of entering a vehicle to commit theft and criminal trespass.  The owner of the business called 911 after an alarm was triggered at the back of his property.

He pleaded guilty to every charge in March 2015 and was given probation by Judge Carl C. Brown Jr.

The Official Story of Deputy Gregory Cooke’s Death.

The Official Story of Deputy Gregory Cooke’s Death.

Here is the official version (so far) of what led to the fatal shooting of RCSO Deputy Gregory Cooke while he was off duty Thursday, according to sheriff’s Lt. Allan Rollins:

There was a “domestic dispute” inside a home on the 2400 block of Lennox Drive around 3 p.m. Thursday. “An argument escalated, there was gunfire and he was shot,” Lt. Rollins told The Jail Report in an interview Thursday evening. “They transported him to the hospital and he succumbed to his injuries. All the facts are blurry.”

Cooke was involved in the domestic argument, but it was not a fight with his wife, the lieutenant said. And it did not take place in Cooke’s home. Lt. Rollins said he is unsure whose home it was, but a March 31 sheriff’s report lists suspects Naeem Caldwell (right  photo) and Donnelle Osborne (below) as residents of that address, 2416 Lennox Drive.

Lt. Rollins said he does not know why the off-duty officer was at the home.

A GBI investigation is underway and they have taken over the case. An official sheriff’s report will not be available for a few days, Lt. Rollins said.

Mugshots of the teen suspects were released early Friday, but the specific charges against Caldwell and Osborne have not been released. Bond for Caldwell from an earlier arrest has been revoked.

Several material witnesses were also taken to the sheriff’s office to be interviewed Thursday. It does not appear any were charged, according to jail records.

Here is the official press release from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office:

On June 15, 2017 at approximately 3:00 p.m., deputies responded to the 2400 block of Lennox Drive in reference to gunshots and a subject had been shot. Deputies arrived on the scene and found that an off duty deputy, Gregory Cooke had been shot and suspects had fled the scene.

Deputy Cooke was transported to Augusta University Medical Center where he succumbed to his wounds. Deputy Cooke had been with the Sheriff’s Office since December 2014 where he started as a jailor and worked his way to field operations.

Following up on initial information, Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office have taken Naeem Caldwell and Donnelle Osborne into custody for the death of Deputy Cooke.

The Sheriff has requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation conduct the investigation.

The entire Sheriff’s Office mourns the loss of Deputy Cooke and offers our deepest condolences and support to his family.

Stay tuned for more…

Aiken Murder Suspect is Captured Near Atlanta

The Aiken man being sought in the May 26 shooting death outside Pace’s Run Apartments in Aiken was captured Thursday near Atlanta, authorities said.

Tobias Marquez Thomas, 20, of Morgan Street, Aiken, was arrested at a home in Decatur and held pending charges for the murder of Kaliel Bey.

“Investigators completed several interviews, followed up on leads and tips, and processed physical evidence which led investigators to issue warrants” for murder and weapon possession on Thomas, a press release said.

Acting on a CrimeStoppers tip, Thomas was arrested by DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office at a relative’s home. Thomas will have an extradition hearing in Georgia and be extradited back to Aiken at a later date.

Aiken Department of Public Safety is being assisted by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, SLED, ATF RAGE TASK FORCE, Second Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office, and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. This is an ongoing investigation and more arrests are possible.

4 More Arrested in Connection with RCSO Officer’s Death

Four more arrests were made Friday in the shooting death of off-duty Deputy Gregory Cooke in Augusta.

  • Neqwaun O’Neal Roberson, 18, (top left photo) is being sought for hindering the apprehension of a criminal. If anyone has information regarding Roberson’s whereabouts please contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1080.
  • Demerius Taquon Hunter, 17 (top right), was charged with hindering the apprehension of a criminal
  • Nikeyla Reeves, 17 (bottom left), was charged with hindering the apprehension of a criminal

“Throughout the investigation it was learned that Roberson, Reeves and Hunter assisted Donelle Osborne, Jr and Na’eem Caldwell flee the area after shooting” Cooke, a GBI press release says.

  • On Friday, at about 11 a.m., Stevie Dustin Caldwell, 46 years old (bottom right), was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  He is reportedly the father of Naeem Caldwell.

The GBI has made it clear that Cooke was not acting as a law enforcement officer at the time of the shooting.

“Cooke had a verbal altercation with an individual, at which time, Cooke was shot,” the GBI press release says.

Cooke was transported to the Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, where he later died during surgery Thursday.

In Augusta: Accused Cop-Killer’s Mom Says Shooting is the Officer’s Fault

The mother of accused cop-killer Na’eem Caldwell claims her son shot RCSO Cpl. Gregory Cooke in defense of his father.

In fact, Regina Osborne (pictured) blames the officer’s death on his own over-reaction to being called “soldier” by her estranged husband. She made the claims in an exclusive interview Friday night with The Jail Report.

Ms. Osborne said she wanted the truth to come out about the officer’s death. She especially wants to make it clear she was not having sex with the off-duty officer on Thursday.

Here is the story she tells:

Na’eem Caldwell, her 17-year-old son, got beat up early Tuesday and Cpl. Cooke was the one who talked with her about the possibly gang-related incident. It was the first time Ms. Osborne met the officer, and he gave her his card and his personal cell phone number. The officer wanted to pursue something with Ms. Osborne and help her son find the attackers.

On Thursday, he came to her house at 2416 Lennox Drive while off duty to take her to nearby BBQ place. By then she knew he was married, but he said the marriage was falling apart and she accepted that.

As they were sitting inside Cooke’s truck preparing to go, a vehicle pulled up with her estranged husband Stevie Caldwell, her son Naeem and her nephew Donelle Osborne.

Stevie Caldwell got into an argument with Cooke because Caldwell called him “soldier.”

“You didn’t have a problem with me calling you soldier, did you?” Stevie Caldwell said.

Cooke replied, “I do have a problem because I am not a soldier. You obviously don’t know who the hell I am.”

“I don’t care who you are. I was just trying to make sure you are all right,” Stevie Caldwell responded.

At this point, Cooke (pictured at right) was standing near Caldwell’s car.

“Mr. Cooke jumped out of his truck with his gun in his hand, stood next to Mr. Caldwell’s car, saying he had a problem,” Ms. Osborne said. “Mr. Cooke had the gun out visible. Everyone saw it.”

Ms. Osborne says she was sitting in Mr. Cooke’s truck, looking down at her cell phone, thinking it’s wasn’t a big deal.

“Come on, let’s go ahead and go,” she told Cooke.

Suddenly, she heard a gunshot. She thought Cooke had shot himself in the leg. Then she heard more.

“Pop, pop, pop, pop.”

Cooke went around his vehicle and fell, and he was on the ground, Ms. Osborne said.

“I was trying to help Mr. Cooke out and called 911, and told them it was a cop. He had been shot.”

She said a dispatcher talked her through it. She put pressure on his arm, but there was blood gushing from his neck. He looked like he was going through a seizure. She put her finger in his mouth to make sure he didn’t swallow his tongue.

“I was trying to keep him awake. He acted like he was about to go to sleep. He sounded like he was snoring,” Ms. Osborne said.

“Stay with me,” she told him. “Wake up. Wake up.”

She says he was still alive when the ambulance arrived. Authorities say he died at the hospital.

But she feels like the sheriff’s office is coming after her son with the murder charge because Cooke was a deputy.

“I feel as if it is his fault because he shouldn’t have got out of the car with a gun. He was the only one who had a gun out,” she said. “He overreacted at Mr. Caldwell calling him a soldier.”

Ms. Osborne said she learned that her son was the one who shot Cooke, in an apparent effort to protect his father.

“He was afraid Mr. Cooke was trying to kill his dad,” Ms. Osborne said.

Na’eem Caldwell (left) and his cousin, Donelle Osborne (right), then fled the home, scared of what would happen.

Ms. Osborne had a lot more to say about her son, why he had a gun, and her sadness over Cpl. Cooke’s death and all the arrests. The Jail Report will tell you more in the coming days.

Meanwhile, six people have been charged in Deputy Cooke’s death, including Na’eem Caldwell and Donelle Osborne, who are charged with malice murder. Stevie Caldwell (bottom right photo) is charged with tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Three other teens are accused of hindering the apprehension of a criminal: Neqwaun O’Neal Roberson, 18, (top left photo); Demerius Taquon Hunter, 17 (top right), and Nikeyla Reeves, 17 (bottom left).

Another Inmate Dies at Aiken County Jail… It’s No. 3 This Year.

Another inmate has died at the Aiken County Detention Center, although jail officials say there does not appear to be anything suspicious in this case.

James B. Oakman, 57, of Aiken SC , an inmate at the Aiken County Detention Center, was found unresponsive by staff members at approximately 11:05 am today, Coroner Tim Carlton said. He was later pronounced dead at the detention facility. There was no evidence of injury or trauma. No foul play is suspected at this time.

Jail records show he was arrested in February for two counts of violating a restraining order and one count of trespassing.

SLED has been called in for an independent investigation, sheriff’s Capt. Nick Gallam said in a press release.

“A detention officer was conducting a routine check when they noticed an unresponsive inmate in a cell. Aiken County EMS was notified while detention officers and onsite medical staff performed life saving measures until EMS arrived,” the release said.

It is the third inmate death this year. The other two:

  • On Feb. 23, Jimmy Kennan (pictured at right) died after being found unresponsive in a shower. The 58-year-old man was rushed to Aiken Regional Medical Center where he was treated and subsequently passed. An autopsy shows he died of natural causes, the coroner said.
  • On May 16, Adam Crow (pictured) hung himself while isolated in a cell. He was arrested earlier that day for DUI, disorderly conduct and no proof of insurance. SLED is investigating that death, and Crow’s mother has publicly questioned why the jail wasn’t properly monitoring an inmate who was supposed to be on suicide watch.

Ex-Cop Arrested for Stabbing at Columbia County Amphitheater!

A Grovetown man who once worked as a sheriff’s deputy was arrested Saturday for punching and stabbing a man during a dispute over a table at the Columbia County Amphitheater.

Barry Davis Jr., 26, was charged with battery and released on bond. He is a former deputy with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

His arrest came after a dispute at 11 a.m. Saturday at the amphitheater in Evans. Victim Christopher Jacobson (6′ tall, 210 pounds) told authorities that Davis (6’3″ tall, 253 pounds) tried to steal a table that he was setting up for a children’s birthday party. He told Davis there was a sign that showed that pavilion was first-come, first serve. He asked Davis to move.

“Do you want to fight about it?” Davis allegedly responded.

Davis then pushed the 31-year-old victim repeatedly and punched him in the face. He then pulled out a knife and cut the victim’s hand, a sheriff’s report says. A citizen broke the fight up and Davis then ran into the woods.

Jacobson sustained a large cut on his hand and was taken to Augusta University Medical Center, where he require eight stitches.

The suspect’s sister claims Jacobson approached her brother as Davis was setting up a table, told Davis the table was reserved and then tried to remove a table cloth. “Mr. Davis attempted to place it back when he was pushed by Mr. Jacobson,” the sister told authorities, saying that Davis was acting in self-defense when the fight started.

Authorities say an impartial witness told deputies that she saw Davis walk up to Jacobson and began punching him so hard that the victim could not get up. The woman then saw something in the suspect’s hand that appeared to cut the victim.

Davis told deputies that he ran into the woods “to get away from the situation and make a phone call,” a report says.

Background. Davis made news as a RCSO deputy in 2014 when he arrested WJBF Reporter Mike Miller at The Country Club in Augusta.

While ejecting the reporter from the bar, the special-duty officer says Miller tried to grab his taser and accidentally fell into a wall. Miller acknowledged drinking alcohol but denied grabbing the officer’s taser. Miller said at the time that he felt the deputy used excessive force.

Miller suffered large cuts to his face in the fall and was arrested for disorderly conduct, but that charge was dismissed Feb. 3, 2015.

Davis has since left the sheriff’s office and currently works as a “service advisor” at a local car dealership, according to a sheriff’s report.

Augusta Call Center Murder Yields Another Arrest – 18 Months Later!

Suddenly, cops have a third murder suspect in the December 2015 shooting death of a supervisor of Teleperformance call center in Augusta.

Jesse Daniel Jackson, 29 (pictured above in a 2010 mugshot), has been arrested in the murder of 29-year-old Randy Justin Ramos (pictured at right) after investigators developed new information and leads. His last known address was Meadowbrook Drive, but he was taken into custody on Saturday in Morgan County by the Georgia State Parol. He will be transferred soon to Richmond County.

Jackson is facing charges of murder, armed robbery, weapon possession, and gun possession by a convicted felon.

Already charged in the murder are 26-year-old Marquise Yarbary (right photo) and 20-year-old Tarez Gordon (bottom photo). It should be no shock to Augusta residents that the two suspects have been sitting in jail for 18 months awaiting trial in the case without a resolution.

The victim was shot in the chest in the call center parking lot, which is near Augusta Mall. Co-workers of Ramos say he was a great supervisor at Teleperformance and had one son.

WGAC’s Austin Rhodes has previously reported that the shooting was a “targeted hit,” citing sources close to the investigation who say Ramos had dealings with the suspects. Authorities say two suspects likely fired the shots at Teleperformance with a third driving the getaway car.

Twin Peaks Arsonist Tells Cop: ‘I Was Supposed to Die!’

The accused Twin Peaks arsonist was suicidal when he crashed his SUV into the side of the Augusta restaurant and set it on fire, according to a sheriff’s report.

“I was supposed to die!” suspect Roland Evan Croyle told the arresting officer while in the back of a patrol car.

Croyle told the deputy that he “intended on being shot twice in the chest and once in the head by responding officers.”

Croyle has been released from the hospital and charged with first-degree arson and four counts of aggravated assault. He’s currently in the Richmond County Jail, and a mugshot shows injuries to the right side of the face.

A sheriff’s report describes what happened at lunchtime Monday after the former Twin Peaks busboy rammed his Mitsubishi Montero into the restaurant on Robert C. Daniel Jr,. Parkway:

Deputy Kirk Watts rushed to the building, where he found flames billowing from the restaurant. He found a shirtless suspect  standing behind his vehicle.  The deputy also found off-duty sheriff’s Capt. Scott Gay positioned several feet away from the arsonist. (Capt. Gay had heard the dispatch and rushed over to help.)

Deputies tackled the suspect and got him into custody. They also dragged him away from the front of the building.

“A large portion of the ground around Mr. Croyle’s vehicle was covered in fuel where he had apparently spilled it from whatever containers he had used,” the sheriff’s report says.

WHY WAS HE FREE?! Augusta Felon Breaks Into Friend’s Home & Rapes Her 11-Year-Old Daughter!

Richmond County authorities have captured the Augusta felon who was wanted for breaking into the home of a family friend and having sex with the woman’s 11-year-old daughter, authorities said.

The arrest of 39-year-old Kelvin Hatcher raises doubts that our justice system can keep us safe from violent, drug-dealing felons who have no respect for law enforcement or other people.  (See record below.)

On Monday, a woman called authorities and told them what happened when she left for Walmart:

She left her children with an adult roommate. But when she returned home, she found Hatcher’s wallet on her bedroom floor. She asked her children where the wallet came from. That’s when she noticed her 11-year-old daughter “shivering and crying,” according to a sheriff’s report.

The young girl told her that Hatcher showed up at the residence knocking at the front door shortly after her mom left for Walmart. Hatcher gained entry through the girl’s bedroom window after no one would open the door to let him in.

Hatcher entered and put his hand under the girl’s dress. Hatcher asked for directions to to the bathroom and upon heading to the bathroom, he followed the girl into her mother’s bedroom.

“Once inside of the bedroom, Hatcher locked the door and forced himself on top of (the girl),” a sheriff’s report says.

She pushed Hatcher away from her, but the suspect took her outside to the back yard. He placed her on the ground and said he would give her $20 if she would have sex with him. After having sex, the suspect left.

Authorities put out a Wanted poster on the suspect and he was captured Wednesday, charged with burglary and aggravated child molestation.

But it’s amazing that Hatcher is free at all when you look at his Richmond County record:

  • Hatcher was 19 when he was first arrested for felony cocaine possession. The courts went soft on him on the 1997 case, granting him first-offender status and giving him three years of probation.
  • In 2004, he was charged with violating an order of protection and obstructing officers. A judge slapped him on the wrist again with probation and fines.
  • In 2010, he was convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and given his longest sentence yet: 60 days in jail. He also got 80 hours of community service and probation. But before the year ended, he was back in jail for marijuana possession in November 2010. Prosecutors simply reduced that charge to disorderly conduct and let him go with more probation.
  • Just two months later, in January 2011, he was hauled to jail again for cocaine possession. Even though probation had not discouraged him from dabbling in drugs again, Hatcher was AGAIN granted probation and fines after Judge James G. Blanchard Jr. gave him credit for time served (28 days).
  • Finally, the crook was arrested in January 2017 for dealing cocaine and obstructing law enforcement. At the time of that arrest, he was awaiting trial for a December domestic violence offense and was serving 12 months of probation for entering an automobile with intent to commit theft from 2016. Hatcher stayed in jail three months awaiting trial before prosecutors simply reduced his drug charges in April. Judge Sheryl B. Jolly gave him credit for the three months in jail, and she set him free with probation on all charges.
  • Three months later, the violent drug dealer rapes an 11-year-old girl. And our justice system fails us again.

Former Augusta Resident Hospitalized After Stabbing Death of Husband in Florida

Former Augusta resident Mary Pender-Michielson was hospitalized in Florida on Monday after her husband died following a domestic-related stabbing at her residence.

Pender-Michielson, also known as “Georgia,” has not been charged in the death of Bruce Michielson, who has a history of domestic violence.

According to Pinellas County authorities, deputies responded to the woman’s 911 call at 3:23 a.m. Monday. She told them her husband had sustained a knife wound to the chest during a domestic-related argument.

Authorities rushed to the residence at 9500 Hamlin Boulevard #1206 in Seminole and found the husband unresponsive. He was taken by Bay flight to Bayfront Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:40 a.m. Monday.

“Mary Pender-Michielson was transported via ambulance to a local hospital for a non-trauma related medical complaint,” a press release said.

On Wednesday, spokesman Sgt. Spencer Gross said the death investigation remains open and they have no additional information to release at this time.

Pender-Michielson is an Augusta native whose family owned a prominent landscaping nursery many years ago. Her family was once one of the largest landowner on Washington Road in Evans.

She and her husband were reportedly renting a home in Martinez as recently as 2015, when she and her husband were arrested for allegedly stealing items from the landlord. The items included a refrigerator, microwave, washer/dryer, TV, couch, dishwasher and Christmas decorations, according to a sheriff’s report.

The felony theft charges against the couple have not been settled, and online records show a bench warrant for their arrests was issued over the last year.

In 2013, Bruce Michielson was arrested for criminal domestic violence (3rd or more offense) while he was living in the Williston area of Aiken County. He pleaded guilty and was released with only court costs, according to online records.
