In Augusta – Walmart Cashier Stuffs Hundreds in Her Pockets

Walmart officials caught a cashier stuffing hundreds in cash in her pockets from the register Saturday, according to Richmond County authorities.

Cashier Brianna Dicks was found with $520 in cash stuffed in her left-front pocket and right-back pocket from her register at the Deans Bridge Road location, a sheriff’s report says.

When security officials reviewed earlier shifts on surveillance tape, they realized Dicks had been pocketing cash for weeks. Here’s a list:

  • On Nov. 24, Dicks was seen placing $400 from register 21 in her front and back pockets.
  • On Nov. 25, Dicks placed $200 from register 25 in her front and back pockets.
  • On Nov. 27, Dicks placed $550 from register 5 in her front and back pockets.
  • On Nov. 28, Dicks placed $100 from register 11, $100 from register 5, and $100 from register 14 in her front and back pockets.

The total amount stolen from Walmart from multiple transactions was $2,220, the report says.

When a Walmart security employee confronted Dicks on Saturday about the money stolen from the registers she worked, Dicks pulled out $520 from her pockets.

Dicks, 28, of Blueberry Street, Augusta, was charged with felony theft by taking and taken to the Richmond County Detention Center. She remained in jail Sunday night under $5,700 bond.

How Jason Johnson Looked When He Was Caught with Teen in Tennessee

Here’s your exclusive first look from jail at Jason Arlis Johnson, the 37-year-old North Augusta man caught in Tennessee with his daughter’s 15-year-old friend.

The North Augusta man made national news last week when he left town with 15-year-old Calah Waskow of Evans. Authorities say he was wanted for having a lengthy sexual relationship with the girl. An Amber Alert went out over several states when he reportedly took the girl from her Evans home last Monday morning.

Sevierville law enforcement report that they got a call from a man who was following the pair. Johnson and the girl were traveling between gas stations before they were finally stopped at the Russell Stover Candy Store sometime Saturday afternoon.

According to authorities, Johnson was taken into custody at the Sevier County Detention Center, where these mugs were taken. A booking sheet lists his height as 5’8″ tall and weight as 175 pounds. His address is listed as 151 Breckenridge Drive in North Augusta.

Calah’s mother, Nora Waskow, told reporters that she was put on the phone with her daughter about 3:30 pm Saturday, after being called by an officer from the sheriff’s department.

“She said ‘Momma, I just want to come home,'” Nora said. “She said she saw us on the news and she said she was okay. She said she was all right.”

Calah was taken to hospital but is reportedly unharmed, and was taken to a juvenile detention facility overnight as a runaway until a judge could sign her into her parents’ care, according to media reports.

Johnson was wanted in Columbia County on charges of aggravated child molestation, child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

As The Jail Report told you earlier this week, Johnson met the girl through his daughter or step-daughter, who is about the same age, according to Columbia County Sheriff’s Maj. Steve Morris.

Apparently, the 15-year-old girl was recently in juvenile court as an unruly juvenile. That is where authorities learned about her sexual relationship with Johnson, which allegedly occurred since July when the girl would sneak out of her Evans home to meet Johnson.

Waskow’s older brother, Jayson Wheatley, told a TV station that three or four women have contacted the family on Facebook stating Johnson had abused their children.

“Different relationships that he’s had. He had molested their daughter. One lady in particular she went to the sheriff’s office and made a report but unfortunately there wasn’t enough evidence for them to have a case,” Wheatley told an ABC station.

“It’s been three or four different ladies come forward on Facebook messaging and everything else stating he had done it to their children as well.”

Augusta Man Who Was Found Naked & Bound: ‘I Thought I was Going to Die Today.’

Augusta Man Who Was Found Naked & Bound: ‘I Thought I was Going to Die Today.’

The three young men seemed “cool” because they knew his cousin, so William Stokes invited the trio into his Augusta home.

But they weren’t “cool.”

The armed thugs eventually forced the 39-year-old man to get naked, remove his gold teeth and sit with his wrists tied and a pillow case over his head, according to a sheriff’s report. The suspects then robbed Stokes of his TV, his rifle, his gold teeth, and other belongings.

“I thought I was going to die today,” Stokes told authorities on Tuesday. “I have never been so humiliated in my life. I was forced to plead for my life and say ‘yes sir’ and ‘no sir’.”

In the end, one of the suspects was found near a dog house in the same neighborhood. He was identified as 17-year-old Tyriq Kelly of Jonathan Circle.

The other two suspects have not been identified, according to the sheriff’s report.

Kelly is being held in the Richmond County Jail under charges of kidnapping, armed robbery and weapon possession.

HERE IS THE STORY that the victim told authorities about his harrowing experience:

Stokes invited the three suspects into his residence early Tuesday because they knew his cousin. But immediately, the suspects began acting “shady.” They had arrived there in a black Jeep Liberty. When Stokes asked them about the Jeep Liberty, one of the suspects confessed that they had “got one over” on a car rental business and never returned the vehicle.

Stokes told the group that he is a family man and didn’t want them or the stolen vehicle near his home. He asked them to leave because he had to pick up his daughter from elementary school at 2:50 p.m.

But the trio ignored him and asked him about any weapons he may have in his home. Stokes said he only had one “real gun,” a .22-caliber Remington 16-shot rifle. Stokes showed one of them the rifle and they took it. After an argument over whether the weapon was real, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim.

That’s when things turned ugly.

The armed suspect ordered Stokes to enter the back bedroom, take off all of his clothes and hand over his gold-teeth grill.

“The victim stated he pleaded for his life, at which time the suspects tied his wrists together and placed a pillow case over his head,” a report says. “He was told by the suspects to walk towards the bathroom, at which time he told them that he could not see where he was going.”

“Nigga, we’ll guide you!” the suspect said, hitting Stokes in the back of the head with the gun.

In the bathroom, Stokes was forced to lie down inside of the bathtub.

“The victim stated he feared for his life as one of the suspects repeatedly demanded the 9 mm handgun from the suspect that was holding it so he could shoot the victim himself,” the report says. “The victim stated he does not know why the suspects left but was afraid that they had not left and were just being quiet so they would not shoot him if he moved or made a sound.”

It was only the quick work of Deputy Allen Crispin that led to the discovery of Stokes in his home, bound and naked. Deputy Crispin was patrolling the area of Young Forest Drive and Rhonda Drive on Tuesday in attempt to prevent burglaries. That’s when he saw Tyriq Kelly in the back yard of a game, running. His pursuit led to Kelly’s arrest.

Next, an anonymous person told deputies that Kelly and two others were seen running from the back of a home on Gerald Drive.

Sheriff’s Lt. Robert Silas and Lt. Elijah Parker responded to the home and found an open rear door. What they found inside was shocking!

They discovered Stokes, in distress – nude, with his wrists did together and a pillow case covering his head.

Lt. Silas took action immediately by cutting the victim free and calling for EMS. But the victim didn’t appear to have any visible injuries and refused to go to the hospital.

One Stokes looked around, he realized that the robbers had taken his TV, his wallet and his rifle. He told authorities that the men also took his pride.

Know anything about the crime? Please call the sheriff’s office at 706-821-1020 or 821-1080.

Stalker Wanted for Violating Protective Order in Augusta

An Augusta man is being sought by authorities for violating a protective order by stalking his victim.

Richard Henry Simpson, 41, is wanted for aggravated stalking. He is described as 5’10” tall and 225 pounds.

Simpson reportedly is known to live in or frequent the area of Deans Bridge Rd., Milledgeville Rd. and Lumpkin Rd, authorities said.

Please contact Inspector Aaron Hannsz or any On-Duty Violent Crimes Investigator at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office with any information as to SIMPSON’S whereabouts. (706) 821-1020 or (706) 821-1080.

Simpson is the same man who threw his wife down on the ground by yanking her hair and then hitting her in early 2015. He got 10 days in jail for that.

Then, in September 2015, he was seen masturbating by his neighbor on Coleman Court. The next-door neighbor said she went outside to feed her dog and saw Simpson standing in the bushes in his back yard next to the fence.

“The suspect was facing her house with his pants down around his ankles, masturbating,” a report says. “The victim and the suspect made eye contact and the victim went back into her house to get her phone. When she returned the suspect had gone inside his residence.”

Simpson had a no-contact order with the neighbor after he was convicted of harassing phone calls.

For that public indecency charge and a separate stalking charge, he was sentenced last fall to 11 months in jail.

Solved! Man Arrested in Shooting/Arson Deaths of Edgefield Couple

An Aiken man has been charged with fatally shooting an Edgefield couple to death and burning their house in a mysterious double murder that happened in October.

Dameion Thomas, 36, is charged with two counts of murder in the Oct. 9 deaths of 25-year-old Charles “Buddy” Deas and his wife, 25-year-old Andrea “Andie” Deas. The couple is pictured at right.

The couple were found dead in a house fire at Marigold Street in Edgefield, and autopsies revealed both died from being shot. A motive is unclear.

The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement Friday morning in a press release to Edgefield Daily.

Oddly, Edgefield County authorities arrested Thomas on Oct. 14, a week after the murders, for credit card theft, and released him on bail a week later. He was arrested Thursday night for the murders. The credit card theft charge was dismissed Friday when he made an initial appearance on the murder charges.

Thomas is pictured here in a 2011 mugshot from Richmond County for DUI.

Williston Man Assaults Police Chief & Injures 2 Deputies

A Williston man attacked his city’s police chief and later injured two Aiken County deputies Friday night, authorities said.

A sheriff’s office press release spells out what happened:

At around 4:45 pm Friday, two Aiken County deputies came to the aid of the Williston police chief, who was being assaulted by a suspect who has been identified as Goldie Bellinger. While trying to apprehend Mr. Bellinger, the deputies received minor injuries. They were treated at a local hospital and released.

After further investigation it was determined that a female victim had provided the suspect with a ride to Aiken from the Williston area. On the return trip to Williston, the suspect became agitated and began to strike the victim and eventually held her at gun point.

When the vehicle made it to the Williston area, the suspect began to point the firearm at multiple people. After a short time in the Williston area, the suspect forced the victim to drive towards Aiken on US 78. While driving, the suspect struck the victim multiple times to include pistol whipping her.

During this time, the Williston police chief received reports of someone pointing and presenting a firearm at citizens in the town of Williston. The Williston police chief traveled west on highway 78 in an attempt to locate the suspect vehicle.

At some point near Pearl Lane, the victim was able to slow down and attempted to exit the vehicle but was unsuccessful. The suspect then struck and pistol whipped the victim again.

A struggle ensued which caused the victim to loose control of the vehicle and ended up on the side of US 78. The suspect exited the vehicle at which time he approached the Williston police chief’s vehicle and began to assault him.

This case is still an active investigation and charges are pending on Bellinger.

The woman was reported to be in fair and stable condition, authorities said.

Augusta Man Arrested in Young Woman’s Shooting Death

An Augusta man has been arrested in Saturday morning’s shooting death of a young mother.

Michael Anthony Scott, 23, is being held on charges of involuntary manslaughter and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime in the death of his girlfriend, 22-year-old LaShawn Sims.

(Scott is pictured above in an old mugshot for marijuana possession. Credit to WRDW-TV for the updated mugshot taken Saturday, at right.)

The shooting apparently happened while Scott had been drinking and was cleaning the gun at 2 in the morning, according to Sheriff Richard Roundtree.

“He failed to clear a round out of the chamber,” Sheriff Roundtree said.

Sims was shot once at 2:30 a.m. on Bertram Court in Augusta and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 3:22 a.m., Chief Deputy Coroner Kenneth Boose Sr. said in a press release.

Sheriff Roundtree said their investigation shows there was no malice or vindictiveness in the shooting.

According to state officials, “involuntary manslaughter” occurs when a person kills someone doing something legal in an illegal way. It’s a death that results due to an act of recklessness or criminal negligence.

Friends of Sims remembered her as a friendly person who worked at a local Walmart and always had a smile. She is survived by a young son, Brice.

Sims and Scott are pictured together in several photos on the victim’s Facebook page, but their relationship was not immediately clear.

Scott is being held without bond in the Richmond County Detention Center.

Martinez Boy, 16, Kills Older Sister in Family Murder Plot

A 16-year-old Martinez boy shot his older sister to death late Monday but was stopped by his stepfather from killing the rest of the family and himself, authorities said.

Sonny Kim has been charged as an adult with murder in the death of 23-year-old Ashley Kim at their home on 325 Tailboard Court in Martinez.

But the teen had planned a bigger bloodbath, according to sheriff’s Maj. Steve Morris.

“His original plan was to kill his stepfather, mother, and sister, and commit suicide, in that order,” Maj. Morris said. “As he was walking to his parents bedroom, his sister was sitting on the couch, so he decided to shoot her first. He shot her multiple times. The father heard the gunshots and detained him until we arrived.”

The boy’s motive is not known, Maj. Morris said. He used a .45-caliber handgun in the shootings.

This Facebook page for the suspect’s mother shows the family in happier times in 2015. The mother had just attended a work Christmas party on Monday night.
