A deadly shooting late Thursday night at an Augusta apartment complex has left one man dead and another injured, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to reports of gunfire around 11 p.m. at the Integrity Apartments, located at 110 Integrity Drive. When authorities arrived, they found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.

Kameron Mason, 28, of Augusta, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:36 p.m., according to Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen. Mason was reportedly the property manager of the complex.

A second, unidentified victim was transported to Wellstar MCG Health for treatment. Their condition has not been released.

The incident remains under investigation, with authorities stating the case is still in its early stages. An autopsy for Mason is scheduled.

Some witnesses at the scene told investigators that the shooting may have stemmed from an altercation involving a group of individuals who refused to leave the complex’s pool area. Residents noted that unauthorized use of the pool by non-residents has been a recurring issue, often prompting calls to law enforcement.

In response to ongoing safety concerns, one resident said the apartment complex recently upgraded its security measures, including the installation of cameras in every building and enhanced gate and amenity access systems.

No arrests have been announced, and authorities have not yet released any suspect information.
