Authorities are searching for an 18-year-old Augusta teen wanted for questioning in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday evening on Lumpkin Road.
Tayshaun Antonio Goodwin is being sought by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office as part of the ongoing investigation into the death of 26-year-old Jaquavious Watkins, who was shot in the 2500 block of Lumpkin Road on May 21.
Watkins was taken to Wellstar MCG Health, where he later died from his injuries, according to Coroner Mark Bowen.
The Richmond County Criminal Investigation Division has classified the case as a homicide. While no formal charges have been announced, investigators say Goodwin may have information critical to the case. He is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing approximately 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Authorities say he is known to frequent the Harrisburg and Lumpkin Road neighborhoods.
Goodwin has a previous mugshot after his arrest in Richmond County on March 6 for misdemeanor obstruction. He has a listed address on the 500 block of Blum Street in Augusta, which is about 6 miles from where the killing took place. The obstruction charge was pending in court, and Goodwin told jailers at the time of his arrest that he was unemployed.
Anyone with information on Goodwin’s whereabouts is urged to contact Sergeant Lucas Heise or any on-call investigator at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1026 or 706-821-1020.
Meanwhile, the victim, , who went by NTS Woodah on Facebook, was being mourned in the community.
Tawanna Andrews said she was broken by his death, posting broken heart and crying emohis on Facebook. “I’m gone miss you Lil cuz, you never missed a beat with coming to see me or hitting me up. I love you always and forever babyboy #LLWOODAH you will truly be missed.”
This remains an active investigation, and officials have not released details about a possible motive.
