Richmond County authorities are looking for a man after a woman’s stolen credit card was used to buy $300 worth of liquor at three different stores.
The woman had left her wallet in a secure area at Piedmont Hospital last month when she went to work. When she returned, the wallet – containing her Wells Fargo credit card, state ID, and Social Security card – was gone.
She soon got an alert from her bank app saying her card was used at three alcohol stores: $125 at SQ Wine, $118 at Kissingbower Package Shop, and $70 at Kings Wine & Spirits.
The woman said she noticed some suspicious people in the area, but couldn’t say for sure if they took her wallet.
On Thursday, authorities released a photo of a man buying liquor and are asking the public to help identify him. He is wanted for questioning regarding the theft and fraud.
Anyone with information can contact Inv. Jerry W. Howell at 706-821-1447 or any on-duty investigator at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1020 or 706-821-1080.
