An Augusta woman who was hospitalized over the weekend after being badly beaten by her boyfriend wants you to see her injuries.

A photo of Melissa Sousa shows her with a bruised and swollen face, matching the description of officers who interviewed her at the Wellstar MCG’s Emergency Room. She also suffered bruises on her arms and legs.

Benjamin Snyder, 50, was charged Tuesday with kidnapping, battery and false imprisonment. He also has a hold for probation and parole.

The couple were living at the same residence on George Road when things turned violent. She told officers that Snyder had been kicking and punching her for three days and refusing to let her leave.

When they finally left the home together in his truck, she tried to escape by jumping out. But he allegedly grabbed her and dragged her back into the truck.

Finally, a good Samaritan helped the woman get away and Snyder sped away from the scene.

Sousa released a photo of her injuries through a friend in hopes it will help keep Snyder in jail. He currently is being held without bond at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center, but she worries he will get out on bond.

Snyder had previous convictions for meth possession and simple battery in Richmond County and is currently on probation.
