An Aiken man was charged Thursday with distributing child pornography over an online file-sharing network, authorities said.
Stephen Rodgers, 39, of Aiken, was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of minors, according to a press release from S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson.
“Investigators state that Rodgers was involved in distributing child pornography via a file-sharing network,” the press release says.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, made the arrest. The Aiken Department of Public Safety, also a member of the ICAC Task Force, assisted in the case.
Rodgers faces up to 10 years imprisonment each if convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor. The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
“Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law,” the press release says.
