An Evans teen who wrecked a BMX Park in a high-profile case last year was arrested for DUI on Sunday in Columbia County.
Logan Barker, 17 (pictured), was arrested Sunday night for driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to maintain lane. He was booked into the jail at 11:33 p.m. Sunday and later released on bond.
Barker is the same teen who borrowed his older brother’s 2001 Jeep Cherokee in December 2014 and tore up the new Columbia County BMX bicycle park, which was under construction off Blanchard Woods Drive. The large, four-wheel-drive Cherokee damaged the new sod, mounds, trails and the landscaping design.
The teen was arrested in January 2015 and sentenced in March 2015. A judge ordered him to serve two years on probation and perform 60 hours of community service, which included picking up trash along the road and in the park.
Barker was supposed to pay restitution and surrender his driver’s license for a period of time.
Here’s the kicker: Barker was also ordered to attend “decision-making classes” for six weeks designed to help him make better decisions. It’s unclear if the instructors offer refresher courses.
