If you run from a Richmond County deputy, you may get tasered. And when you get tasered, your face may not like it.

Authorities say the Augusta man was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped last Friday for suspended registration. Everett wasn’t wearing his seat belt and gave Deputy Joshua Cunningham a fake name when the deputy asked his identity, a sheriff’s report says.

The officer handcuffed the man and started walking him to a patrol car in an attempt to obtain his identity.
“Mr. Everett fled on foot while handcuffed,” the deputy wrote in his report. “Mr. Everett continued in the direction of Wrightsboro Road in heavy traffic at which time I deployeed my Taser.”
Everett, 21, of Thomas Lane, was struck by the Taser in the right upper arm and right rear of his thigh. The suspect fell to the ground and was taken into custody.
The face-plant – while handcuffed – caused several cuts to Everett’s face and he required treatment from paramedics. His injuries were so bad, the jail’s nursing staff wouldn’t accept him into the detention center until he went to GRU hospital, a report says.
Later, Everett was booked on charges of obstruction and giving false information to police. A body cam recording captured the whole incident, a sheriff’s report says.
A background check shows Everett was sentenced this year to five years of probation after he was convicted of several counts of forgery.
