A North Augusta man was arrested Friday after government officials traced a photo of child pornography to his computer, according to a sheriff’s report.
Aaron Jacob Heffner, 38, of Big Cone Drive, North Augusta, was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree.
Last October, the state Attorney General’s Office got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an image was uploaded to a Microsoft Skydive account. The image turned out to be child porn, according to a sheriff’s report.
A state investigator got account information and found it belonged to Heffner. An investigation led to a warrant and Heffner’s arrest.
Heffner is the same man arrested by Richmond County authorities in 2011 for stealing 20 operating system CDs from University Hospital while working as a computer technician there. He sold them on eBay. In that case, he got probation and fines.
