Investigators with the Aiken Department of Public Safety have issued an arrest warrant for 55-year-old Billy J. Lunsford, of North Augusta for Providing False Information to a Public Safety Officer.
Mr. Lunsford’s charges stem from the his allegations that a three foot, 100 pound mountain lion had escaped Sunday from the Aquarium Pet Store on Richland Avenue West in Aiken.
Lunsford advised officers that a black mountain lion was missing from Aquarium Pets. Investigators have determined that this statement was not true and that no mountain lion was ever inside the business, according to a press release.
Lunsford is believed to be in the Breezy Hill or Graniteville area.
