A Thursday night police raid at Suz Lounge in Augusta has sparked online speculation and led to a felony firearm arrest.
Deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Gang Unit executed a search warrant around 3253 Deans Bridge Road on Thursday targeting Suz Lounge. The operation stemmed from an ongoing investigation into a May 4 shooting near the location.
According to officials, business owner Samantha Moses failed to provide requested security footage. When no one granted entry, deputies forced their way inside.
Inside, they found Rodriquez Curry in a backroom laying on a bed. He claimed to be the bar manager and had keys to the building. A loaded 9mm Beretta was found in a nearby cabinet. Curry, a convicted felon from a 2007 drug case, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Officers also seized DVRs and other recording equipment.
Footage of the raid quickly spread online, fueling speculation about illegal activity at the lounge. Authorities have not confirmed any investigation beyond the May 4 shooting. Moses told deputies she couldn’t get anyone to open the building prior to the raid. Another individual arrived after entry had already been made.
Police have not said whether more arrests or charges are expected.
