An Augusta man was fatally shot Wednesday morning while sitting in a vehicle on Dabney Drive, authorities said.
A’kki Pauley, 28, was shot at least once while parking on the 1900 block of Dabney Drive, according to Coroner Mark Bowen. He was transported by private vehicle to Wellstar MCG Health, where he was pronounced dead at 11:34 a.m. Wednesday.
Resident Darryl Carter said he was at the hospital when his friend brought him in, and his brother carried Pauley into the hospital.
Richmond County authorities say another victim was also shot. At 11:02 a.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1900 block of Dabney Drive after reports of the incident. Authorities located one adult male victim, who had been shot at least once, on the 1800 block of Cooney Circle. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The second male victim, Pauley, was driven to the hospital by a private vehicle but later succumbed to his injuries, sheriff’s Sgt. John Perry said.
“The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released,” he said.
The death marks Richmond County’s ninth recorded homicide for the year.
