Three Columbia County teenagers turned themselves in on Saturday for their involvement in damaging the men’s bathroom at Evans Towne Center Park (Lady A) last week.
Jassoor Wilde, 17, and Jake Baker, 18, both from Evans, and Eli Quesnel, 18, from Martinez, were charged with criminal trespassing. After being processed and posting a $1,100 bond, all three were quickly released.
According to a park employee, the suspects entered the men’s bathroom last Sunday night, dumping the trash can’s contents on the floor and clogging the toilets. Surveillance cameras captured the three males entering the bathroom at 9:10 p.m.
A sheriff’s office post showing the group and a fourth individual exiting the bathroom went viral, with over 1,400 shares and hundreds of comments. That helped lead to their identification, and the sheriff’s office worked with their attorneys on their surrender. The fourth individual pictured in the surveillance images was not charged, as he was not involved in the incident, according to sheriff’s Maj. Steve Morris.
Many residents expressed outrage in the comment section of the viral post, calling for the suspects to face strict punishment. One commenter, Unique Hodges, suggested banning them from the Columbia County area, while others labeled them “thugs” and demanded action. Amanda Wilson proposed they should pay a fine and work off their punishment by cleaning the park for a year while on probation.
Booking records show Wilde is a student at Lakeside High School, Baker works at CMA Technology Augusta, and Quesnel told officers that he was self-employed.
