The Richmond County Coroner has identified the victim of a July 27 fatal shooting in the Harrisburg community as a homeless woman.
Argie Jones, 54, was shot that Saturday afternoon on the 1900 block of Ellis Street and died four days later at Wellstar MCH Health Hospital, according to Coroner Mark Bowen. The coroner has worked for two weeks to locate family to notify before releasing her name.
At the time, neighbors on Ellis Street reported that the victim was was shot in a drive-by shooting. One man who was riding his bicycle through Harrisburg at the time called the woman an innocent bystander.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office as not released any suspect information or possible motive.
