A Walmart thief spent her seventh day in jail Sunday after her arrest last week for a felony shoplifting and for kicking a Richmond County deputy, authorities said.

Shashona Vonner, 22, of Augusta, has been unable to meet the requirements of a $16,000 bond on charges of felony shoplifting, felony obstruction and criminal trespassing. She remained Sunday at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.

Vonner was with another woman at the Wrightsboro Road store June 16 when they were seen skip-scanning merchandise at the self-checkout, authorities said. The items they pay for totaled over $500, making it a felony.

When Vonner was stopped at the exit and brought back to the loss prevention office, she was told she was facing a felony charge and got upset, authorities said. She allegedly kicked a computer, damaging a monitor and a specialty cord.

Deputy Scott Eyth, who joined the force last year, tried to restrain the combative suspect. But Vonner violently kicked him several times in his upper torso.

Assisting deputies arrived and helped restrain the suspect. Deputy Eyth did not suffer any serious injuries, authorities said. The total of the theft was $654.03.

The woman who was with Vonner, identified as 37-year-old Rebbie Alls of Augusta, was charged with felony shoplifting. She has been released on bond.
