An Augusta man was arrested Wednesday on child molestation charges for allegedly sending a picture of genitalia to two juvenile girls.
Randall Reddick, 36, of Middleton Place, is accused of sending a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl an image of what he claimed to be his penis over Snapchat messages on Saturday, according to arrest warrants. The girls lived in Augusta.
Richmond County authorities issued a wanted flyer for Reddick on Saturday and he was captured Monday in Aiken County. He was extradited to Richmond County on Wednesday.
Reddick has a previous conviction for domestic violence in Richmond County. He also has convictions for theft and domestic violence in Columbia County.
Snapchat, along with other social media apps, have been used to target or victimize juveniles across the nation.
Federal authorities arrested a man last June for allegedly enticing a 15-year-old girl to send him nude photos on Snapchat. Santos Emilio Marcial-Castro, 30, was arrested on charges of persuading/enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity.
Last May, a Tennessee man was charged with sending a nude photo of a minor to a private Snapchat message thread from his home. Jordan William Nealy was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor.
Snapchat has a few ways to offer some protection for teenagers, including requiring teens to be mutually connected or in their respective phone contacts before they can start communicating.
